Obstetric Theatres

There are two obstetric theatres with their own service areas adjacent to the delivery suite. Midwives from the delivery suite on a rotational basis staff the theatres. Mothers to be who are having an elective caesarean section will walk to theatre, and may well have the surgery under epidural anaesthesia. Following surgery mothers will stay in the recovery area prior to returning to the ward.
